What is SampleSort? Its a Windows application written in C# with a Windows Presentation Foundation user interface that aims to help users manage a large collection of audio related files. The application is aimed at musicians, audio engineers and producers. It provides them with an easy to use, searchable view into their 'sample material' in order to provide them a fast way to locate the things they need, when they need them.
The project is currently still in beta, the current version is available for download on the JamSoft web site.
In the screenshot below you can see one of the major features in action - RanDrum - the random drum kit builder. You can keep cycling through all your samples while SampleSort randomly picks a collection of samples and places them on the drum pad associated with a slot in the kit. You can then selectively keep certain samples whilst randomly replacing all the others in the current kit. I did this since I love the creative injection you get from randomise functions in some hardware synthesisers, so I thought I'd replicate it for audio files and drum kits.
